PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

King Salmon is a favorite everywhere. A true Seattle tradition. It is high in essential Omega-3 fatty acids, and no other fish has a more distinctive flavor than Fresh King Salmon.

  • Serving size 1/2 pound per person
  • We are no longer taking center-cut-only requests. If you would like a center cut, please call our store to pay the $5 per pound center-cut charge.

  •

Depending on the time of year, this salmon is either wild or may be our certified organic King Salmon from off the coast of British Columbia.

Is this salmon wild-caught?

Depending on the season, our Northwest Chinook king is either wild-caught or raised in cold Pacific waters. If you want wild only, call us before you order.

What does king salmon taste like?

Chinook is the largest Pacific salmon. It has rich, buttery flesh with a high fat content and a soft, silky texture.

What's the best way to cook king salmon?

Its fat makes it forgiving. Grill, pan-sear or broil it and it stays moist even if it cooks a minute or two longer than planned. Go light on seasoning.

When is Northwest king in season?

Selection is strongest from late spring through summer, though it's offered across much of the year.

How should I store it, and how long will it stay fresh?

Refrigerate it as soon as it arrives and cook it within 48 hours of delivery, or freeze it right away. Vacuum-sealed portions can go straight into the freezer. See our Care & Prep guide for thawing tips.

How much should I order per person?

Plan on 1/2 pound per person.

Can I get it portioned or vacuum sealed?

Where available, you can choose portion sizes and vacuum sealing options before you add it to your box. Vacuum sealing is a flat $25 per order.

When will my order ship, and when will it arrive?

You choose your delivery date at checkout, and we ship your order overnight the day before. Because we only ship Monday through Thursday, delivery is available Tuesday through Friday, so your seafood never sits in a carrier facility over the weekend outside its 48-hour freshness window. Available delivery dates may vary with our seasonal store hours.

How is it shipped?

Overnight only — since fresh seafood has a strict 48-hour safety window once it leaves our store in Seattle. Continental U.S. orders ship via FedEx Priority Overnight or UPS Ground Overnight, depending on your location. Local customers in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho are eligible for discounted UPS Ground Overnight rates. See our full shipping rates by region ->

Do you ship to my address?

We ship to residential and business addresses across all 48 continental states, plus Alaska and Hawaii at a flat rate. We're unable to ship to PO boxes, FPO, or APO addresses.

What if my order arrives damaged or spoiled?

If your order arrives spoiled or you receive the wrong product, contact us within 14 days of delivery. We're not able to accept returns once an order has shipped, so if there's an issue, please reach out to us right away.

Fresh Northwest King Salmon Fillets

Northwest King salmon is prized for its rich flavor, buttery texture, and naturally high oil content. Also known as Chinook salmon, King salmon is a Pacific Northwest favorite and an excellent choice when you want a flavorful, versatile fish for the center of your meal.

Pure Food Fish Market has been serving customers at Seattle’s Pike Place Market since 1911. Our experienced fishmongers carefully prepare each order for shipment so you can enjoy premium salmon at home.

What Does King Salmon Taste Like?

King salmon has a rich, full flavor and tender, buttery texture. Its natural oil content helps the fish stay moist during cooking and makes it especially well suited for grilling, roasting, baking, broiling, and pan-searing.

If you enjoy a richer salmon with a soft, succulent texture, King salmon is an excellent choice.

How to Cook King Salmon Fillets

King salmon is versatile and doesn't need a complicated preparation to taste great.

Grilled King Salmon
Brush lightly with oil, season to taste, and grill for a simple preparation that complements the salmon's natural richness.

Pan-Seared King Salmon
Pan-searing creates a flavorful exterior while keeping the center tender and moist.

Baked or Roasted King Salmon
Pair King salmon with lemon, garlic, fresh herbs, seasonal vegetables, or your favorite glaze for an easy oven-prepared meal.

Broiled King Salmon
Broiling is another quick way to prepare a fillet while developing color and flavor on the surface.

Cooking time will vary depending on the thickness of your fillet and your preferred doneness.

How Much King Salmon Should I Order?

For boneless King salmon fillets served as a main course, approximately 6–8 ounces per person is a good starting point.

If you're serving several courses or additional seafood, you may need less per person. For larger appetites or when salmon is the centerpiece of the meal, plan toward the higher end of that range.

Check the product options above for current sizes and ordering information.

What Goes Well with King Salmon?

King salmon pairs beautifully with lemon, garlic, fresh herbs, roasted or grilled vegetables, potatoes, rice, seasonal salads, and a wide variety of sauces and glazes.

Its rich flavor also works well with simple preparations, so you don't need many ingredients to create a memorable salmon dinner.

How Should I Store Fresh King Salmon?

Keep fresh salmon refrigerated until you're ready to prepare it. If you aren't planning to cook your salmon within the recommended timeframe after delivery, freezing it can help preserve its quality for later use.

Always follow the storage and handling instructions included with your order.
