Fresh True Cod Fillets

Fresh True Cod, also known as Pacific Cod, is known for its mild flavor and tender, flaky white meat. Its clean taste and versatile texture make it an excellent choice for everything from classic fish and chips to simple baked, grilled, or pan-seared dinners.

What Does True Cod Taste Like?

True Cod has a mild, slightly sweet flavor with tender white meat that flakes easily when cooked.

Its approachable flavor pairs well with lemon, garlic, butter, fresh herbs, breadcrumbs, vegetables, and a wide variety of sauces and seasonings.

How to Cook True Cod

True Cod can be baked, pan-seared, grilled, broiled, or fried.

For a classic preparation, lightly bread or batter the fillets for fish and chips. For a simpler meal, bake or pan-sear the cod with lemon, garlic, herbs, and your favorite seasonings.

How Much True Cod Should I Order?

Our recommended serving size for Fresh True Cod Fillets is approximately ½ pound per person.

The amount you'll need may vary depending on appetite, preparation method, and whether the fish is being served as part of a larger meal.

Fresh Cod

I’m a cod (torsk) snob. I used to fish for them on famous fishing grounds like Georges Bank, Cashes Ledge, Coxes Ledge before the factory ships decimated them and we put our own merchant fleet out of business with restrictions. And we used to get the best of all - codfish cheeks - for $5/lb in Gloucester, MA. There’s no better fish. Anyway, I’ve been disappointed with some of the “fresh codfish” from merchants here in the lower Chesapeake Bay so thought I’d give the left coast codfish a try. Only way to say it is IT WAS SPECTACULAR. And at $13.99 with the free shipping offer, the price was certainly competitive/reasonable. Will definitely buy more. Please offer codfish cheeks!
